Who was your first celebrity crush?

Show us a picture of where you used to be.
I used to be at NID, full time. Doing my final year project now. I miss it terribly:(
Book: Show us the latest book you bought, borrowed or received
But its hilarious and well-written and I have been recommending it to all and sundry. A must-read. Any other Gerald Durrell books I can read?
I am always touched when anyone buys me a gift, especially if they thought I would like it.
One of my aunts buys me something every time she comes to India. I love her gifts(mostly clothes) but they are generally either too tight or too low-necked or something like that which makes my father look disapprovingly at them and I, with a secret sigh, put them at the back of my closet. She once gave me a make-up kit, a little silver box, with flavoured lip-gloss and glittery blush. I was only thirteen and fascinated by the colours. But alas, this time both my parents told me I was too young for make-up. It stayed on my book-shelf till the gloss dried out and the blush flaked. I was still too young...
This time a friend sent me a gift so thoughtful that I was flattered and so cool that all my three brothers lusted after it.:) A Timex Expedition. Probably not a girlie watch but I loved it anyway.
I am a gift-giver myself. Now that I am earning a bit, I do go out and buy stuff for my friends, interesting things which I think would suit their personality. As Adam Ladd from Rebecca of the Sunnybrook Farm says "I believe that gifts must be as unpractical as possible", so I go out of my way to buy gifts which are just a little bit crazy. I mean, whats the point of giving things which are practical but unaesthetic? Would you rather have a rice-cooker or lingerie from your boyfriend?
Its my birthday today and I am feeling totally old. There was so much I should have done by the time I was twenty-three and though I am on the way, the road seems so very long.
I remember the time when my birthday used to make me feel so excited, there were friends to be met, gifts(oh yeah!) to be received, special food to be eaten and yes, chocolate cake! Childhood:)
At twelve I received three calls, one from my roomie, one from my buddies in Banglore and one from another buddy in Delhi. Technically the Delhi call wasn't a birthday call, I reminded him of the day and the guy wished me and resumed telling me about his project. But what the heck, one must not be choosy:)
There was cake in the morning, but two family crisis came up and stole my thunder. Our bai's daughter ran away from her house and my brother flunked in two subjects. This put the ladies of my family in a foul temper and I just barely got breakfast. And cake, of course:)
However, I decided to myself, that a birthday is a birthday and must be celebrated. Even if it is on my own:) So i bought myself flowers today, bright gerberas...they look lovely on my desk.
I might even have a party for one later on, anyone who is around is also invited:)
What was the one toy you wanted as a kid that your parents never bought you?
Submitted by Princess of Darkness.
I had always wanted one of those My Little Ponies, the white one with pink hearts on it. I think it was called Snuzzle. I wanted it because of this animated series on Doordarshan every Sunday where they showed adventures of these Ponies. However, my parents did not really approve of buying one for me since I just recently had got a Barbie.
When my aunt from America was visiting us, she bought a Pony for me, which was alas pink with white dots on its rump and not the white fairy Pony I had wanted:).. I hated pink then(and even now) but since my aunt had bought it for me, I adopted it as my own..I just re-found-out it was called Cotton Candy.
Audio: What song do you listen to when you are sad?
Submitted by Nat.
Its in phases actually and varies as per degree of sadness:)
I listen to a lot of ColdPlay and my current 'sad song' is 'Yellow'
Look at the stars,
see how they shine for you,
and all the things you do,
they are all yellow...
