I am completely in love with Marjana Satrapi's simple black and white drawings in the movie Persepolis, which is premiering in Cannes Film Festival. Unfortunately its all in French and so I cannot understand a word. All I know that it is a semi-autobiographical movie about growing up in Iran for a girl who loves Iron Maiden and Micheal Jackson.
Do check it out and campaign hard for an English translation!

I recently got a new drawing tablet. Used it last weekend to make this little graphic. Will be using it in some freelance work I have undertaken.
This is I think my third drawing based on flying/being airborne. I seem to be fascinated by it

Last week was great in terms of creativity. I have realised that you need conflict in your life to be truly creative and productive. When life was smooth and happy, I did not feel the need to write/draw/create. Its only when there is pain, do you feel the urge to express...

Go forth, be bold and fear not. Wise words I never manage to follow:) Inspiration comes like a flash sometimes. I love doing ink illustrations, they look so stark and truthful. Colour is difficult to master, of course, but there is honesty in black and white.
